International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) IALA is a nonprofit, non-governmental international technical association. Established in 1957, it gathers marine aids to navigation authorities, manufacturers and consultants from all parts of the world and offers them the opportunity to compare their experiences and achievements. IALA’s aim is to harmonize aids to navigation worldwide and to ensure that the movements of vessels are safe, expeditious, cost effective and harmless to the environment.

 

 

International Maritime Pilots' Association (IMPA), The International Maritime Pilots' Association, is a professional, nonprofit making body with a truly international outlook. It is primarily concerned with promoting professional standards of pilotage worldwide in the interests of pilots' safety. It seeks to fulfill this momentous task by encouraging both consultation between its members and the exchange of technical information with other industry partners and regulators at the local, national and international levels.

 

PIANC is the global organisation providing guidance for sustainable waterborne transport infrastructure for ports and waterways. PIANC is the forum where professionals around the world join forces to provide expert advice on cost-effective, reliable and sustainable infrastructure to facilitate the growth of waterborne transport. Established in 1885, PIANC continues to be the leading partner for government and private sector in the design, development and maintenance of ports, waterways and coastal areas. Members include national governments (23 National Sections) and public authorities (38 Qualifying Members), corporations and interested individuals. Providing expert guidance and technical advice PIANC provides guidance to public and private partners through high-quality technical reports on pressing global issues to benefits members on shared best practices.

 

ICS The International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and the International Shipping Federation (ISF) are the principal international trade association and employers' organisation for merchant ship operators, representing all sectors and trades and about 80% of the world merchant fleet.

 

 

IFSMA Formed in 1974, IFSMA was established to uphold International Standards of Professional Competence for Seafarers, IFSMA is a Federation with a policy to ensure Safe Operational Practices, Preservation from Human Injury, Protection of the Marine Environment and Safety of Life and Property at Sea. IFSMA unites the World's serving Shipmasters into a single professional co-ordinated body. The Federation is formed of nearly 11,000 Shipmasters from sixty Countries either through their National Associations or as Individual Members.

 

International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) Created in 1955, the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) has developed into a global alliance of ports, representing today some 230 ports in about 90 countries. The member ports handle over 60% of the world’s sea-borne trade and more significantly, nearly 90% of the world’s container traffic. It is a non-profit-making and non-governmental organization (NGO) headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.

 

 

Irish Maritime Law Association (IMLA) The Irish Maritime Law Association (IMLA) was established in May 1963 and is the national branch of the Comite Maritime International (CMI). It aims to promote a better understanding of Irish maritime law and to encourage its unification on an international level. Members of the IMLA include shipping, insurance and legal interests and drawing on its vast experience in the area of private international maritime law, IMLA has been happy to assist the Irish Government from time to time in addition its contribution to the work of the CMI. The association provides a valuable forum for those who are engaged in international maritime trade whether merchants, shipowners, underwriters, bankers or lawyers advising these disparate interests
