Call for Papers
The IHMA is pleased to launch the ‘Call for Papers’ for the 2012 IHMA Congress to be held in Cork, Ireland 2012.
Global Port and Marine Operations 2012, the 8th International IHMA Congress, will be held in Cork, Ireland on 14-18 May 2012. The 8th IHMA Congress in Cork will explore and address the changing landscape of ports and how these changes are redefining the role of harbour masters in the future. Addressing the theme, "Marine experience: Can we manage tomorrow's port without it?" the 2012 IHMA Congress will showcase technical and operational breakthroughs together with international case studies on the development and management of modern port and marine operations across the globe.
Continuing the tradition of bringing together industry leaders to consolidate and collectively share the industry’s knowledge, the IHMA Paper’s Committee invites those interested in presenting a paper at the 2012 Congress to submit a 400-600 word abstract taking one of the following subjects:
- The role of the Harbour Master in port management and development
- The legal powers of Harbour Masters in new commercial landscape
- Managing the decline of nautical expertise in shipping and the port industry
- Port performance, port competition and the Harbour Master
- International harmonization of port rules, regulations and procedures
- Cost cutting, efficient and safe operations in tomorrow’s ports
- Harbour Master’s case studies
- Exhibition papers in relation to one of the subjects above
Deadline for paper submissions – Extended to 17th June 2011
Abstract submissions should:
- List the title of the paper
- Include your name, contact details and if appropriate, job title and company name
- The broad theme of your paper together with the reason why this topic would be interesting for the Congress and how it addresses the theme, "Marine experience: Can we manage tomorrow’s port without it?"
- A short note about the author’s background and affiliations
- Be written in English
