Q1: I’m an already registered attendee for the IHMA 2020 Congress, what happens with my registration?
Your existing conference registration ticket will automatically be carried over to our 100% virtual event. You do not need to re-register.
Additionally, to thank you for your loyalty, all existing bookings are entitled to invite one additional colleague to attend the virtual conference & exhibition at no additional charge (see Q9 below for details).
Should you prefer, you can opt for a refund of the difference between the virtual and regular registration rates.

Q3: I am a speaker on the agenda, what happens next?

Q4: How will the presentations be delivered in a virtual format?
All speaker presentations will be accessible from your computer or mobile device with a mix of live and pre-recorded sessions. Speakers will have scheduled live Q&A built into the agenda. Attendees will be able to see the video of the speaker, along with their slide deck as they are presenting. Attendees will also be able to see who else is in the virtual room alongside them, send private or group-wide messages during or after the presentation, or set a time for a 1:1 video meeting on the platform. Presentations will be available to view on-demand for 30 days post event, allowing you to view presentations at your own convenience.
Q5: Are there new event dates? How long will the IHMA Congress still run for?
Traditionally, the IHMA Congress was held over 4-5 full filled days that included conference sessions, product and service displays in the accompanying trade show and an engaging array of social activities.
This year, the IHMA Congress will be transformed into a virtual global community that regularly connects over 12months. All speakers, attendees, sponsors and exhibitors will have exclusive access to the Virtual IHMA Congress Global Ports & Marine Ports Community for knowledge sharing, networking and a few informal laughs over this period.
During this time, we will be hosting the IHMA Congress Conference over a series of days. The updated series schedule will the released shortly.
Q6: What time zone will the IHMA Congress accommodate?
The IHMA Congress is genuinely an international event with participants across 17 time zones. Attendees will be able to personalize all settings, including time zones, on the platform to their preferred settings. This will ensure that other attendees schedule 1:1 meetings at suitable and available times.
Q7: How will the virtual exhibition look?
Our virtual trade showcase will be accessible alongside the technical agenda presentations. Each virtual exhibition booth, including product information and resources available within the booth, will be aligned with the Congress program, speakers and session topics, providing a simple way for you to connect with relevant vendors and suppliers. In between Congress sessions, we will have dedicated exhibition visiting times to view live product demos with expert on hand to provide additional information and answer any questions that you may have.
Q8: Will I still be able to communicate with attendees, speakers and exhibitors?
Yes, our virtual platform will have a full attendee list published (name, title, company, photo) that can be filtered by topic interests (eg operations, management, regulation, safety, security, technology, skills etc).
Attendees will be able to send private messages and video call each other through our virtual platform.
Q9: I am already registered. How do I redeem my one free colleague pass?
For all existing conference pass attendees, the Congress Manager, Tina Karas will email you a note asking for your preference in proceeding, along with the practical details for this option, including how to register your free colleague.
For new IHMA Member attendees: After registering, you will be emailed a discount valid for 1 free additional pass for a new, unregistered colleague. Your colleagues can register through the same process as noted above.
