The IHMA 2020 Partners Program will provide a great welcome to Tasmania and the IHMA family and is the perfect way to experience the region’s natural beauty, culinary delights, history and culture.

The program includes the daily touring itinerary, all evening functions and technical site tour to Australian Maritime College (AMC) in Launceston.

Hobart highlights + Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary
9:30am – 5:00pm

A great way to familiarise the group with Hobart and each other, the city sights tour will include views of Hobart CBD, Salamanca Place Battery Point, and a visit to the Mt Wellington summit. You will also enjoy a guided tour of Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary to see the Tassie devil eat a snack, learn about their quirky personalities as well as some of the threats they face and the efforts to help protect them. The tour will also include the opportunity to have a close encounter with one of the animals.

6pm -8.30pm

All aboard the high-speed ferry from Brooke Street Pier at 6pm.

Port Arthur Historical Site
9:00am – 5:00pm

Today you will enjoy a full day exploring the history and heritage of Tasmania on the spectacular Tasman Peninsula, a place of rugged beauty with some of the most stunning coastal scenery found anywhere in Australia. The day will commence with a private guided tour of the Port Arthur Historic Site, Australia’s most evocative and intact convict penal settlement and include the nearby attractions of the Blow Hole and Tasman Arch, Devils Kitchen and Doo Town.

Bruny Island Tour
9:30am – 3.30pm

All your senses are tantalized today with a tour of Bruny Island. You will breath in the cleanest air in the world, taste amazing produce (Bruny is home to producers specialising in oysters, cheese and chocolate), see stunning coast lines and listen to the stories of Tasmania‘s own island. Together with a specialist local guide, you will visit the highlights of both South Bruny and North Bruny Islands including the Bruny Island Lighthouse, Captain Cook Landing and the Neck Lookout.

6.30pm -10.30pm

Technical Site Tour – Australian Maritime College, Launceston
8:00am – 5.30pm

We will visit the Australian Maritime College (AMC) at the University of Tasmania, on the banks of the beautiful Tamar River in Launceston. Globally recognised as being a centre for excellence, the AMC is Australia’s national institute for maritime education, training and research. The group will enjoy a guided tour of the multi-million dollar suite of specialist teaching, learning and research facilities including the Cavitation Laboratory, the Maritime Simulation Centre and Towing Tank and Model Test Basin. We will enjoy lunch at Josef Chromy Wines, listed as one of the Top 10 Cellar Doors of Australia, before returning, via coach to Hobart.
